‘Butterflies’ is a tense and heady vocal anthem from Hannah Wants, featuring drastically pitched-down vocals from Jamie George, gradually unfurling over its opening minutes before blossoming into life atop a bed of colossal, bounding sub-bass. Paired with an instrumental version that lays bare the track’s stripped-back, infectious motion, and a pair of remixes re-tool the track for different dancefloors. Oscar Luweez turns it into a driving and seedy basement jack, propelled along by raw, crushing kicks and hi-hats. Tanka further strips it down to a minimalist, dubby, deep house version, splintering the vocal and melding it to a sparse, echo-ridden background
Take Me There features four new songs from Jamie, each by a different producer, approaching his songs from a different angle each time.
‘Take Me There’, produced by Shenoda, leads the EP with a sultry, low-slung house groove. With Jamie’s vocals propelled along by the pulsating sub-bass and crisp percussion that’s become a prominent recent fixture on London’s dance- floors, it builds into a hypnotic track equally suited for peak time or early doors.
‘Beautiful’ pinpoints a perfect spot between those two producer’s approaches, blending infectious swung percus- sion with thick, funk-inspired chords, while Jamie sings of love at first sight.
‘Anywhere But Here’ finds him diving into entirely darker realms – save Jamie’s hushed voice it’s almost all space, its dubby chord flickers echoing out across a clipped garage beat. For their house remix, Kry Wolf flip the track’s moody energy on its head, sending glimmering marimba melodies bounding joyfully through the mix.
To the world of bass music, this man has been throwing some of the best parties in the midlands. Tom Shorterz has been gracing the decks through his 02:31 brand, bringing headline names to the city of Birmingham and earned himself a slot on leading radio station Rinse FM.
Bringing nothing short of a current club anthem, Shorterz delivers a tribal infused low end house banger. Complete with rising pianos and a shuffle to get anyone on the dance floor, Wot U Do is definitely a track that will be heard throughout all of the summer months.
