The Hero in me.
Recently I’ve been thinking about people that have inspired me, influenced me or I would in a way consider to be my heroes. Here is a quick run down of a few of the Heroes in my life as a kid.
Marilyn Monroe – I don’t really know why to be honest, i’ve just always found her fascinating. She was obviously beautiful and to many defining. She was all woman, that sounds so cliche, but it’s true. A bitch at times, but hey, she’s female (ooh). The original super star glamour girl.
Spiderman – I think it’s more Peter Parker that I relate to, but ever since I was little, i’ve loved Spiderman. Although I hate spiders.
Optimus Prime – even trucks can be sensitive! As a kid Optimus Prime was amazing, he was a leader, and always saw the good in everyone, apart from Megatron.
Michael Jordan – A leader, A champion, A Winner, somebody that always trys to challenge and better himself. Say no more.
Scottie Pippen – he came from nothing and achieved so much, he was always overshadowed by MJ, but without him would Michael of been so successful? The ultimate team player. The man who just got the job done while the superstar stood firm in the lime light.
Doug E Fresh / The Fat Boys – I was a beatbox fanatic, still love it now. Doug E Fresh & the get fresh crew was the 1st record i heard with beatboxing on it, I had “The Show” on 7″ & 12″ I used to try immitate that shit all day. The Fat Boys also used to beatbox and combined they both created my love for the art of beatboxing.
Funkmaster Flex – Weird one this, because there are so many more historic DJ’s out there, but Funk Flex and his 60 minutes of Funk mixtapes, spawned my devoted attention to beat juggling and cutting. Sure Jazzy Jeff created the transformer switch, Eric B would cut and Jam master J was a pioneer but Funk Flex excited me in the 90′s and I replicated his tricks at house party’s which lead onto me becoming a DJ, which lead onto my journey into music.
There are many more, your Bob Marley‘s, Jimmy Hendrix‘s, Michael Jackson‘s and the usual suspects, but these are people that really stand out to me, when I actually think back though my younger days.
